Cars, Bicycles and Inline Skates Boarders are not permitted to keep cars at school. Bicycles may be kept locked outside. Inline skating is only allowed outside of the school building. Helmets and other safety equipment must be worn. Use of bicycles and inline skates is limited to use on school property only this year. Travel/Vacations Reservations for air travel should be made well in advance of school vacations in order to fall within school holiday dates, which generally occur at peak times of travel and as airline travel is much more limited this year. Exam schedules will not be changed to accommodate travel arrangements. Havergal gives generous holiday time. Time for travel is included in the holiday periods. Parents should not allow students to be absent from classes before or after any holiday for more than three days. If a student’s parent(s) or guardian(s) plan to be away, Boarding Staff must be informed. A forwarding telephone number and address should be left with the Boarding Office or an alternative emergency contact must be provided. Boarding School Closures: Continuous Occupancy Program As travel to/from home may continue to be challenging, we will be keeping the Boarding School open during all long weekends and holiday breaks (Christmas and March Break) . International Boarders ● If community infection rates are high in Toronto (Lockdown), our preference would be for all international students to stay in Boarding during these times. ● If community infection rates are lower (Control -Red, Restrict-Orange, Protect-Yellow, Prevent-Green), students would have the option of either staying in Boarding or staying with their local guardians. Canadian Boarders living outside the GTA ● If community infection rates are high (Lockdown) our preference would be for all students to stay in Boarding during these times. ● If community infection rates are lower (Control -Red,Restrict-Orange, Protect-Yellow, Prevent-Green), then students would have the option of either staying in Boarding, with their local guardians, or returning home.
