FORUM FOR CHANGE

Social Innovation Opportunities The Forum for Change provides opportunities for students to engage with social entrepreneurs, global community leaders and innovative programming and workshops. These learning experiences have a shared purpose to expand perspectives, identify areas of need and/growth/improvement, and to act on these areas. These opportunities are held under the umbrellas of: Social Justice, Diversity and Equity; Learning Service and Cultural Understanding; and Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Students have the opportunity to sign up for these exciting experiences through the Forum for Change. These learning experiences will be communicated through student announcements and the Heads of School weekly communication The Duke of Edinburgh Award Havergal is an official Award Centre for the Duke of Edinburgh international award. We support students in the enrolment process and the submission of required information. We do not explicitly offer Duke of Edinburgh specific programming, but can provide support for students in seeking out and designing experiences. The Global Learning Leading Diploma (GLLD) The Global Learning Leading Diploma (GLLD) is an opportunity that is unique for Havergal students who see themselves as emerging global leaders. Open to students in the Senior School, successful applicants take part in knowledge-building modules, skills development and learning experiences that support the development of an active global citizen. Designed as a student-centred learning journey, this program celebrates and honours our social innovators: those who seek to become ethical and responsible global citizens, characterized by their appreciation and engagements in a diverse, culturally-connected world. This is an application-based program for students in Grades 10, 11 and 12. Students apply through the Forum for Change to enter into the GLLD program. Once accepted, students are partnered with a mentor, who will support and guide the student learning journey across academic, co-curricular and extracurricular programming. The mentor also works with students to support the experiential learning modules and final research project. Each participant’s journey will include four key interconnected components: 1. Learning modules : Students participate in a selection of core modules designed by the Forum for Change that cultivate essential skills and perspectives. Themes that are covered include:
