FORUM FOR CHANGE
connections there is a mutual accountability that enables our community to learn in partnership. To support this approach:
1. Students may initiate fundraising events at Havergal College: a. that directly support Havergal’s Community Partnerships; or
b. in cases of urgent needs (ex: war, natural disaster, impact close to our community). 2. Proposals for fundraising in support of Community Partners beyond what is already scheduled must be brought to members of the Forum for Change for review. Appropriate proposals will then be brought to the Upper School Student Life Committee, which is led by the Vice Principal, Student Life & Wellbeing. Havergal acknowledges that students have the desire to fundraise and get involved with supporting their community and organizations of interest to them. We encourage students and faculty to align with our Community Partnerships wherever possible. Where this is not possible, students and faculty are encouraged to work with members of the Forum for Change to build their capacity outside of Havergal’s direct, on-campus support. Global Learning Projects Havergal recognizes the educational value that experiential learning opportunities can provide students. We believe that when off-site experiences are well-planned and well-managed, the personal, social, emotional and academic development of students is enhanced. Experiential learning takes different forms in different grades, but broadly speaking, when experiential learning opportunities take students off Havergal’s 22-acre campus, they are considered highly valuable moments of community time that deepen academic learning and/or support our Forum for Change social innovation programming. Parents/guardians should direct any questions they have about planned excursions to the designated Lead Supervisor planning the outing. Students have the opportunity to travel internationally as part of our Global Learning Projects. Every year, the Forum for Change seeks to offer meaningful excursions to national and international destinations to provide unique global learning experiences that can focus on one or a combination of our global competencies. These Global Learning Projects are experiences that allow our students to know themselves in new ways, to better understand the lived experiences of others and to deepen their exploration of their role in the world. We are excited to be planning for community, co-curricular, academic and Forum for Change learning experiences for the 2024 to 2026 academic years. These learning experiences will be communicated through student announcements and the Heads of School weekly communication.
