from the class. Grade Reps will work with other student leaders to plan events for their class throughout the year. Boarding Grade Reps serve on the Boarding Council, led by the Boarding Prefect.
Other Leadership Opportunities
Leadership opportunities exist throughout the school year in scheduled events and inspired, organic opportunities. Here are some examples of these leadership opportunities: Periscope This is a student-led initiative that happens three or more times per year. It is run for students, by students and is all about students. It is organized to hold space for students to dialogue, share their ideas, experiences, insights and/or messages with the wider Havergal community. Social Innovation Initiatives Opportunities for students to take on an informal leadership role to lead, engage with and support initiatives emerge throughout the year. Students are encouraged to connect with the Forum for Change for opportunities with our local Community Partnerships, such as Water First, Truth and Reconciliation Student Group. There are also annual Community Partnership drives they can get involved in, such as Holiday Angels, Prom Dress Drive and more. Students can also connect with HC-X for opportunities with social innovation, such as Virtual Learning Lab, The Earth Prize and The Future Prize. Havergal Ambassadors The Havergal Ambassadors are an active volunteer group of Havergal students from Grades 11 and 12 who take prospective students on tours of the school, greet special guests, speak about the Havergal experience and community and serve as ambassadors at school functions. All students are expected to support the leadership of those in formal roles who have the responsibility to carry out specific duties such as House Captains, School Prefects, Senior Year Presidents, Co-Curricular and Community Partnership Heads and serving on the Boarding School student leadership team.
