The Global Learning & Leading Diploma The Global Learning and Leading Diploma (GLLD) is a unique opportunity for Havergal students in the Senior School to pursue experiences that support the development of skills, mindsets and journeys to become an ethical and responsible global citizen. The opportunity for students in the Middle School exists in the Global Learning and Leading Certificate program. In both cases, students apply through the Forum for Change to enter into the GLLD program. Once confirmed, students will be placed with a mentor who will support, guide and assess the student learning journey. The mentor will also work with students to support the experiential learning modules and final research project. Each participant’s journey will be curated with a digital portfolio and will include four key interconnected components: 1. Research project: directly connected to academic curricula, students will take an interdisciplinary approach to research and respond to a challenge, opportunity or big question that they construct. 2. Excursion: students will take a major excursion that can be local, regional, national or international, approved by their mentor, that allows them to explore and reflect on their place in the world. This excursion will inform their research project 3. Global Learning and Leading modules: these will be bespoke modules offered through the Forum for Change by the faculty, staff and experts outside of Havergal. 4. Co-curricular involvement: directly connected to their research challenge, opportunity or question of individual students, participants will enrol in a co-curricular that will deepen their understanding of their place in the world and build communication, critical and creative thinking and collaboration skills. The outcomes of this diploma program are to give students the opportunity for students to: 1. TRANSFER their academic learning to authentic experiences. 2. BUILD and TEST their skills of global capability. 3. BUILD knowledge of emerging futures and skill sets to support thriving. 4. REFLECT on experiences and who they are as a learner. 5. INTEGRATE experiences into their lived experiences. 6. ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITY—critically challenge status quo theory and perspectives in an ethical and productive dialogue
