7. Tickets will not be available at the door. Only students from participating schools may purchase tickets, as per each school’s distribution procedure. 8. A student may not purchase a ticket for anyone else. 9. The list of students who purchased tickets will be at the entrance to the dance and only these students will be allowed to attend the dance. NOTE: We are concerned about your child’s safety—if a student shows up at a dance whose name is not on the list, their parent(s) will be contacted immediately. If parents cannot be reached, the student will go to a supervised room and remain until parents can be contacted or the dance ends 10. Once the dance has started, there is a closed door policy and participants are not allowed to re‑enter the dance after leaving. 11. NO knapsacks are allowed into a dance. 12. NO cell phones or cameras in the dance area. Cell phones can be used in a designated area of the school. No photos allowed. NOTE: Schools are asked to reinforce good digital citizenship principles and practices with their students prior to the dance. 13. Students may enjoy food and drink in the designated area while at the host school. 14. Suggested ratio of chaperones to students is 1:20. 15. Active chaperoning means faculty proactively circulate and help make sure the dance is safe. 16. Should one of the student guests from any given school have a life threatening illness, the host school should be notified before the dance takes place. When the student arrives, that student should be identified to the lead teacher of the hosting school as well as to the hosting chaperones, should an emergency arise. Senior School COSSOT Social Events One of the objectives at the Senior School level is to provide opportunities for students to meet and socialize with other students from a variety of schools. These events are supervised by Havergal College faculty and staff when the event takes place on campus. Other events, held at other independent schools or at outside venues, are supervised by the host school. Permission forms are not required for Senior School COSSOT events, but Havergal students are required to sign up in advance for attendance and billing purposes. These events are typically billed to student accounts. Parent and student compliance with this protocol is mandatory for students wishing to participate in activities with other independent schools. The Coalition of Single Sex Schools of Toronto works cooperatively to support and host dances as an opportunity for our students to socialize safely with students from other schools. The agreed upon dance protocol is in place for all schools.
