GRADE 7 Grade 7 Health and Physical Education

GRADE 9 PPL1O – Healthy Active Living Education, Grade 9, Open 1 CREDIT What school subject can improve a person’s health and self-esteem, build strong interpersonal skills and actually help improve a student’s academic performance? It is quality physical education. Grade 9 Health and Physical Education covers everything from territory games, fitness centre training and net/wall activities, to fun and games in the pool and rock climbing. There is a four-day self-defense workshop taught by a professional instructor. In this unit, you will learn about how to be aware, avoid risky situations and defend yourself. Health units allow students to connect their experiences in Grade 9 and topics that connect healthy eating, mental health, substance use and addictions, and sexual health to making good choices. The class ends up being a small family as you train side by side for the triathlon (swimming, rowing and running) and cheer each other on as you cross the finish line. This class gives you the opportunity to push yourself and your athletic abilities and to learn about your health while still having a blast!

During Grade 7 Health and Physical Education, you will learn to stay fit and healthy through a variety of activities, games, sports and health topics. You will also be introduced to all of the Havergal athletic facilities. Special topics include an introduction to touch rugby, dance as creative movement and fitness orientations.
