INTRO Since 1894, Havergal College has prepared young women to make a difference in the world. With such a renowned past, it’s important to ensure the long-term wellbeing and success of Havergal College, so generations of young women to come are empowered to be change agents of the future.
For almost 130 years, Havergal has been a world leader in girls’ education. We are proud of our history, and we know that to remain at the forefront of girls’ education we cannot take our foot off the pedal of progress. Our plan, built upon Havergal’s track record of excellence, constructs a learning environment that will prepare girls for every possible version of the future and invests in programs, curriculum and facilities that will result in an unparalleled student experience. Our plan for Havergal’s thriving future includes: • A deeply connected community, with belonging and wellbeing at the foundation of educational excellence. • An academic and co-curricular program that empowers girls to become global change-makers and creators. • A future-ready campus designed for success that capitalizes on our location in one of the world’s greatest cities. • A school program that gives rise to an unparalleled suite of transformative learning experiences No matter where the path leads after attending Havergal, our young women will be prepared to make a positive, lasting difference in the world. In conjunction with Berlineaton Management Consultants, we assessed Havergal’s strengths, areas of growth and opportunities for the future. Community feedback and aspirations are embedded into our roadmap. This plan is designed to solidify Havergal’s position as a world leader in girls’ education

At Havergal, excellence and wellbeing are intrinsically linked. Our ambition is to prepare our students for the world outside our walls, providing them with the practical tools to balance caring for themselves along with the drive for excellence. Near-term initiatives that will help us achieve our goals: • Investing in Faculty PD so students can leverage a world-class faculty trained in wellbeing science. • A highly personalized academic and university counselling experience, helping students showcase their strengths and apply these in their path forward after graduation. • Building a contemporary centre for wellbeing at Havergal, designed to be a stigma-free environment, bringing together a wide range of expertise, and empowering students to take a holistic approach to self-care and growth.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 2: Learning, teaching and embedding equity and inclusion across all areas of the school as an essential component to academic and organizational excellence.
We are constantly striving to deepen our sense of community and belonging for all students and employees. We are also developing practical organizational strategies that will help students develop the skills to be successful long after they graduate. Near-term initiatives that will help us achieve our goals: • Launching Havergal College’s Inclusive Excellence framework to build on a culture of inclusion and diversity, helping students and employees bring their true selves to campus. • Creating an action plan that incorporates Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being and Doing into the curriculum. • Developing a student and employee learning program in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging principles, ensuring our students and employees are ready to make a difference at Havergal and in our local, national and international communities.

We commit to fostering a culture of outstanding performance, nurturing an environment where students and employees can share their talents and deliver on the promise of excellence. Near-term initiatives that will help us achieve our goals: • Launching employee growth and development programs that strengthen the relationship between employees and management through collaborative work, goal setting and performance discussions. • Engaging parents, students, employees and recent graduates in ongoing feedback to gauge satisfaction of Havergal’s programs and learning environment. • Launching a new Parent Experience & Learning Program that partners with parents to provide educational opportunities to support their child’s growth and development.

Providing an exceptional breadth of transformative learning experiences to every Havergal student that creates the conditions for girls to thrive today and into the future.
To ensure students excel at their next stage, we will give them the opportunity at each stage of their journey to reflect on what they’ve learned, discuss the implications on their personal path, and assist them in making connections for why and how it matters. Near-term initiatives that will help us achieve our goals: • Designing a capstone learning experience for Grades 6, 8 and 11 transition years, that academically stretches student learning outcomes, putting theory to practice. • Creating a Leadership Learning Lab and developing the Havergal College Student Leadership & Self-Discovery Program. • Developing a community partnership and service learning program catered to Junior & Middle School students to provide experiential learning, to broaden perspectives beyond the classroom and to inspire positive engagement with local communities.

Nurturing future-ready graduates through an academic program focused on teaching for understanding, intellectual rigour and futures-thinking.
Our students receive personalized guidance to tailor their learning experience throughout their Havergal journey and leverage our connection to Toronto’s top industries. This helps build upon their self-awareness and supplement their decision making on what next path i s right for them. Near-term initiatives that will help us achieve our goals: • Providing students with enhanced skills and experiences through the Career Experience Program in the areas of finance, medicine, arts and STEM. • Expanding the University and Career Counselling program to offer additional support for students’ post-secondary and future career paths. • Creation of a Design program that builds design, entrepreneurship and strategic foresight skills. • Expanding our unique Middle School social media, digital citizenship and communication program.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 6: Curating a suite of experiential and global education opportunities that develop global competencies, threaded through the Havergal experience.
The expansion of our global learning opportunities spans both the Junior and Upper School, leveraging Havergal’s status as a globally networked school. We aim to ensure every student has the opportunity to maximize her potential and discover her future. Near-term initiatives that will help us achieve our goals: • Expanding our Global Education Program to connect students with learning experiences around the world, in partnership with leading organizations such as Round Square. • Expanding access to the international student boarding program, student exchanges, service-learning and intercultural excursions to support students in developing critical global competencies. • Continued growth and promotion of Havergal’s Global Learning & Leading Diploma.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 7: Broadening access to Havergal to attract new talent and diverse perspectives. We are evolving our campus and redefining our support programs to remove socioeconomic and geographic barriers to accessing a Havergal education. We want our community to best reflect the world beyond the ivy. Future initiatives that will help us achieve our goals: • Constructing a new, state-of-the-art boarding facility to welcome a wider and ever diverse group of students from around the globe. • Redefining our Financial Support programs to reduce tuition fee barriers for deserving, mission-fit students. • A philanthropy plan to significantly grow the endowment that supports student financial assistance and scholarships.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 8: Maximizing opportunities for transformative growth experiences by investing in contemporary, sustainable facilities, stewarding and activating the greenspace. Our 22-acre campus and excellent facilities have always set us apart, and as teaching and learning shifts, so does the type of space we require. Over a 15-year period, we have planned for significant investments that will have a dramatic, positive impact on the student experience.

Future initiatives that will help us achieve our goals: • Constructing a new turf and seasonal dome athletics facility on campus to augment our physical education and athletics program during all seasons for all students. • Redesigning our tennis facilities into regulation-sized courts to enhance our instructional and competitive programs. • Building a purpose-built outdoor Junior School playspace to support the development of young children and integrate learning, engagement and active play. • Creating additional academic and student collaboration spaces, STEM labs, refreshed, contemporary classrooms and new student common areas.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 9: Creating an agile organization
to realize strategic opportunities and bolster the long-term financial strength of the school.
To ensure our ongoing success, we will be engaging our biggest champions and utilizing alternative sources of revenue to help reduce tuition pressures so we can continually invest in the facilities, faculty and staff and the future impact of education for girls. Near-term initiatives that will help us achieve our goals: • Cultivating a culture of philanthropy to ensure the school’s long-term strategy and inspire investments in support of girls’ education. • Exploring revenue-generating opportunities that leverage Havergal’s facilities, location and reputation and strike new partnerships for future collaboration and growth.
