• The student is required to carry the device in a carrying case of their choosing, so long as the case is able to be sealed shut to prevent falling out, and is padded on the inside to prevent damage while in transit. • The student is required to clean their device before each day they attend on campus. This cleaning is to be done as instructed by Apple on their website.

Information and Communication Technology

Havergal is wireless throughout the campus and students in Grades 7 to 12 will be required to bring personal laptops or other mobile devices into the school to gain Internet access and complete assigned work in class. Personal laptops or other mobile devices will be used in the classroom at the discretion of the individual teacher. Students are asked not to text and walk and to be thoughtful about their use of mobile technologies. Students and one of their parents/guardians are required to read and agree to comply with the Acceptable Use of Technology Agreement and abide by the Havergal College Code of Conduct in order to have network access at Havergal. Student Equipment Loan Agreement Havergal’s strategic direction Havergal 2020+ supports student growth in a world enmeshed with digital. The direction of the College will give your child(ren) the skills, strategies and mindsets to navigate their world while building their wellbeing toolkit. Digital hardware for, and its appropriate use by your child(ren), are well supported by Havergal. In keeping with this support, Havergal students participating in the Student Equipment Loan program will have the opportunity to borrow equipment and accessories from the Havergal College Information Technology Department for the duration of the academic year. Prior to the receipt of equipment parents must agree and review with their child(ren) the conditions of this agreement. Conditions of Use • Equipment and all accessories (e.g. Laptop, iPad, camera, etc.) are the property of Havergal College. • Equipment must be returned to Havergal College at the end of the academic year (June). • In the event of loss, theft, or damage that is not covered under warranty, the College reserves the right to charge to the student’s account the cost of repair or the purchase of equivalent replacement equipment. • The student or other family members may not copy, migrate or remove College-licensed software for use on other computers/ devices. New software cannot be installed on this equipment unless it is approved by the Havergal Information Technology Department in advance and it is under the umbrella of relevant applications and software of the College. • The student and her parents have read, understood, and agreed to the school specific Acceptable Use of Technology Agreement for Parents and Students. (Junior School and/or Upper School). • The student must contact the Havergal College Service Desk when experiencing technical problems. • File backup is the student’s responsibility. Please ensure that the student is familiar with the back-up process currently used at Havergal College and that files are backed-up regularly. Students are only allowed to back-up schoolwork related documents to Havergal’s storage. Personal pictures, movies and music are not allowed to be backed-up onto Havergal’s storage. • Particular attention and consideration must be paid to the security and confidentiality of any sensitive information stored on portable devices such as laptops and tablets. The consequences of that information being lost or falling into unauthorized hands may be severe. Wherever possible, any supplied device locks, either physical and/or logical passwords must be used to secure these assets.
