CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

House Council Each House has a Council composed of the House Advisor (faculty) and elected student representatives from Grades 9 to 11. The Council meets regularly each month to address House business and plan meetings and activities. School Prefects These Grade 12 leaders are elected by the students, faculty and staff in the Upper School to serve the school through their assigned portfolios: Arts, Sports, Student, Social, Prayers, Admissions, Clubs & Spirit, Junior School, Middle School, Wellbeing, Forum for Change and Boarding. Prefects set the tone for the year with an annual theme, cheer and other initiatives, as well as lead a variety of councils and projects related to their portfolios throughout the year, including: Spirit Week, Earth Week, Arts Week initiatives and more. School Councils School Councils are made up of groups of students from Grades 8 to 12 who are committed to representing and leading their fellow students. There are several councils: Junior School Council, Middle School Council, Senior School Student Council, Prayers Council, Wellbeing Council, Sports Council, Arts Council, Forum for Change Council and Boarding Council. School Prefects generally co-ordinate the different councils. Some councils are elected and others are application-based. Senior Year Presidents These Grade 12 leaders are elected by the peers in their grade. They plan events and encourage collaboration among our Grads throughout their final year at Havergal. This group of leaders organizes events such as the Senior Year Workshop, Halloween Assembly, Prom and the Grad Gift Campaign. Affinity/Alliance Heads Affinity and Alliance groups are led by student leaders who demonstrate a keen interest in creating spaces that promote inclusion and compassion. They work with faculty/staff mentors to create spaces where students can connect and share experiences unique to their groups on a biweekly basis Club and Publication Heads These Senior School student leaders are elected or appointed to lead an organized club or publication at the school that aligns with an area of personal interest or passion. They are responsible for the programming, attendance and budget of their club or publication. Community Partnership Heads These Senior School student leaders apply to lead one of the school’s community partnerships. Student leaders work closely with their staff/faculty mentors, to organize and lead weekly visits that support local communities. In doing so, they are expected to demonstrate accountability and
