Futures & Foresight Futures & Foresight programming is an evolving set of rigorous, future-oriented educational experiences at Havergal designed to equip students to navigate an increasingly volatile and complex global landscape. This includes the futures literacy, systems thinking and strategic foresight to understand and navigate these evolving contexts. Futures-focused pedagogies promote adaptability, optimism and resilience — qualities essential for sustaining student wellbeing and long-term success – and foster engagement, personal meaning and a deeper understanding of how global forces shape their lives. A key part of our programming is integrating Futures Thinking into TC-9, the transdisciplinary experience for Grade 9 students. Futures helps students envision the futures they desire and develop action plans to take steps now toward creating those futures. Students learn tools such as Environmental Scanning, Trend Analysis and Scenario Development. Additionally, students in Grades 10 to 12 who enroll in a Futures & Foresight microcredential will dive deeper to identify signals of disruption, test strategies against all visions of the future and develop artifacts to share their visions and build coalitions toward taking action in the present.
