CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

Havergal Dance Procedures When Havergal hosts a dance: ● students must enter through the main entrance (the Rotunda);

● students are not permitted to wander throughout the school building, which includes being restricted from going to their lockers and/or Grad Common Room (barriers are set up to restrict access); ● refreshments for students are limited to the Rotunda and/or the Brenda Robson Hall; and ● students are responsible for their registered guests. Role for Parents/Guardians Parents/guardians, along with students, have a shared role and responsibility in creating a safe and enjoyable dance for everyone. Havergal College requires parental/guardian co-operation in the areas of supporting the above protocol, supervising pre-dance and post-dance activities and arranging transportation.

Parents/guardians should contact the host family when their daughter is attending a pre-dance or post-dance activity to be knowledgeable about the nature and supervision of the activity.

If a parent/guardian is not driving their daughter to and from the dance, parents/guardians should be aware of the transportation arrangements, as well as anticipated departure time from the dance.

There are serious consequences if students are found to be vaping, smoking or under the influence of drugs or alcohol at any school dance or on school property. If a student is behaving inappropriately and is either refused entry or asked to leave a dance, an adult will supervise the student in a safe place.

The student’s parent/guardian will be contacted to attend and pick up the student. Disciplinary action may follow.
