Ellen Knox Library (EK) The reception room located off the entrance of the Upper School, the Ellen Knox Library was originally established by the Old Girls/Alums as a library for the Upper School in memory of Havergal’s First Principal, Ellen Knox. It was transformed into a reception room by the Old Girls/Alums when the 1979 extension, housing the Reta Weston Library Resource Centre, was built. Form (Grade 7 to 8) A Form is a group of Middle School students in the same grade who meet with their designated Form Teacher on a regular basis. Forum for Change The Forum for Change (F4C) is the global heartbeat of Havergal College. It serves as the hub of global learning experiences (international exchanges, global learning projects and Round Square regional and international conferences), community partnership programming and social innovation work. The F4C supports students in learning-service approaches to making a difference in their world. Students are provided with opportunities to develop and practise the skills, mindsets and approaches of Havergal’s Global Competencies that further the school’s mission, vision and values. Founders’ Day Founders’ Day is an annual event that celebrates the laying of the cornerstone of the Upper School in 1926. The Founders’ Day Service is generally held on April 23, but may be held on a school day close to this date if it falls on a weekend or holiday. It is compulsory for students from Grades 1 to 12 to attend. Parents, Old Girls/Alums and former staff are also invited. Gator Day In the Junior School, Gator Day takes place at the end of the year and is a time for Houses to participate in fun activities and games. In the Upper School, Gator Day is one date per sports term, selected by the Sports Prefects, when Upper School students dress in green and gold and are encouraged to cheer on Havergal athletic teams on campus. Gator Gala Organized by the Havergal College Parent Association (HCPA), this event is held in the Spring Term for students in Grade 7 to 12 and a significant adult/parent figure in their lives (father, mother, guardian, etc.). Grade 6 Celebration At the end of the school year, families and their daughters in Grade 6 attend a special celebration honouring the time students have spent in the Junior School.
