FORUM FOR CHANGE

Entrepreneurship. Students have the opportunity to sign up for these exciting experiences through the Forum for Change.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Havergal is an official Award Centre for the Duke of Edinburgh international award. We support students in the enrolment process and the submission of required information. We do not explicitly offer Duke of Edinburgh specific programming, but can provide support for students in seeking out and designing experiences. For more information on the Duke of Edinburgh award, please visit: https://www.dukeofed.org/ or speak to Brittney Dos Santos, Administrative Assistant to VP Experiential Education and Innovation. The Global Learning & Leading Diploma (GLLD) The Global Learning and Leading Diploma (GLLD) is a unique opportunity for Havergal students who see themselves as emerging global leaders. Open to students in the Senior School, successful applicants take part in knowledge-building modules, skills development and pursue experiences that support the development of global knowledge, skills and mindsets through a social justice lens. Designed as a student-centred learning journey, this program celebrates and honours our social innovators: those who seek to become ethical and responsible global citizens, characterized by their appreciation and engagements in a diverse, culturally-connected world. This is an opt-in program for students in Grades 10, 11 and 12. Students apply through the Forum for Change to enter into the GLLD program. Once accepted, students are placed with a mentor who will support, guide and assess the student learning journey across academic, co-curricular and extracurricular programming. The mentor also works with students to support the experiential learning modules and final research project. Each participant’s journey is captured with a digital portfolio and will include four key interconnected components: 1. Final project : Students will be challenged to extend their curricular learning through a transdisciplinary, self-directed project they construct to respond to a challenge, assess social innovation implications or explore a big question. 2. Experiential Education : Students engage with different people, places, perspectives and partnerships by participating in Experiential Education. These local, regional, national or international experiences allow them to explore and reflect on themselves and the role they can play as active citizens within their globally-interconnected future. Experiences can be a Havergal Excursion, Exchange or Community Partnership or another experience planned and approved in coordination with the Forum for Change and their GLLD mentor.
