Upper School Performing Arts (Grades 7 to 12)

Performing Arts at Havergal College guides our students in establishing a foundational understanding of music, drama and dance and their effect on the community and beyond. We help students discover and develop their unique skills and talents in the Performing Arts through curricular and co-curricular opportunities. Your daughter is invited to participate in a variety of co-curricular Performing Arts opportunities, which are listed below. Students will register online in the Performing Arts Program of their choice during the first week of school. Please note that ensembles marked with an asterisk (*) will require an audition in order to participate. Unless otherwise stated, students commit to Performing Arts programs for the duration of the school year. Their experience culminates in a final evening performance.

Middle School Performing Arts Program Opportunities Middle School Play*

The Middle School Play is open to all Middle School students who are interested in acting. It’s important to note that this is a theatre-based program and not musical theatre. While this is an auditioned program, all students are welcome to participate. Auditions will be held in early September and students must register online during the first week of school. Performers are expected to attend all play performances. Middle School Choir The Middle School Choir is a vocal group open to anyone who is interested in singing. While students who take vocal music are the core of this ensemble, students who are in the Band/String Program are also encouraged to join. No audition or experience is required. The learning and understanding of teamwork, commitment and dedication to musical excellence are the pillars of this ensemble as most singers go on to join the Senior Choir. Rehearsals are weekly after school from September to May. Singers are expected to attend all rehearsals and all major performance events including Carol Service, Founders’ Day and Middle School Music Night.
