GLOSSARY OF HAVERGAL TERMS

Havergal Jr. Ambassadors Students in Grades 7 to 11 who support new students to Havergal beginning on Orientation Day and throughout the school year. They mentor new students and help them get engaged and connected with the life of the school. Haverpals (Junior School) Every class in the school is partnered with another class, where there is at least a three-year gap between the students. These pairs meet on a regular basis, engaging in a wide variety of activities. This allows our students to develop meaningful relationships with students outside of their peer group, allowing them to feel more connected to their school and community. Hawkins Dining Room The Hawkins Dining Room is located in the Upper School and provides an array of healthy and delicious options for students, Faculty and Staff to enjoy in a welcoming and friendly dining atmosphere. The dining room is open from Monday to Friday and food and beverages can be purchased by students with their security swipe card. HC-X HC-X is the innovation hub for the development and the delivery of future-ready teaching and learning. Out of HC-X comes future-ready programming for students and parallel professional learning for our educators. Health Centre Staffed by the Manager of the Health Centre (Nurse Practitioner) and Registered Nurses, the Health Centre supports the physical and emotional wellbeing of Havergal students. Health Centre Staff work to educate students with respect to health and wellness, while treating medical concerns according to medical directives issued by the school’s physician consult. Students who feel they are unable to attend class due to illness must report to the Health Centre for assessment. Students will not be sent home without permission from parents.

Homeroom

A homeroom is a group of Junior School students in the same grade, taught by a designated teacher.
