Upper School Student Responsibilities
Students in the Upper School take ownership for their learning and, as such, assume the following responsibilities:
1. checking Veracross (VC) course web pages and school email on a daily basis; 2. using school email to communicate with their teachers, not personal email; 3. meeting teacher-established deadlines; 4. submitting their own original work in the manner required by each teacher; 5. reaching out to teachers in advance when they expect to be absent for a short or extended period of time; 6. making up missed class material if absent; and 7. meeting all assessment deadlines.
Deadlines, Late and Missed Assignments
Note: this does not apply to students on Exchange or following a Return to Learn or Other Extended Absence protocol.
Student Responsibilities Students must understand that:
● they are responsible for providing evidence of their understanding of the overall expectations within the time frame specified and in the format approved by the teacher; ● late and missed assessments will be noted on the report card as part of the evaluation of a student’s development of learning skills and work habits and may have other consequences; ● they may receive a zero for missing any deadline that counts toward their overall mark; ● they will be required to make up class material if they miss class to complete an assessment; and ● parents / guardians will be contacted when assessments are not completed on time. When students anticipate difficulties in meeting an assessment deadline, they must: ● discuss this difficulty with the teacher in a timely fashion before the due date in a face-to-face meeting. This meeting is not by email or the day or night before, except under special circumstances; ● ask whether the teacher would consider setting a new due date; ● understand and accept that the teacher may or may not agree to set a new deadline;
