Middle School Exams Middle School students may write exams that are 1.5 hours in length and worth up to 20% of a student’s final grade. Middle School students will know in advance which exams will be written during the exam week and which will be a performance evaluation in lieu of a formal exam. Senior School Exams Most exams in Grades 9 to 12 will be two hours in length, but some last up to two and a half hours. They count towards 30% of a student's year-end grade. In some subjects, the summative evaluation is the final exam. In other subjects, the summative evaluation is comprised of the final exam and another cumulative assessment. Your daughter will know how her year-end grade will be determined in each subject. For a more comprehensive description of how JK–12 students are assessed and evaluated, please refer to pages 16 to 21 of the 2019/20 Upper School Course Calendar , which is published on the ‘Resources’ section of Parent Portal. This includes information about how Junior School report card grades are determined. Log into the portal at: community.havergal.on.ca . 1. For example, this will mean that if she is: ● using the Quiet Small Room for one exam, she will be there for all exams; ● writing with her class for one exam, she will be there for all exams; and ● using a computer in the Computer Lab for one exam, she will be there for all exams. 2. New Accommodations Based on Educational Assessments: New psycho-educational assessments must be received three weeks before final exams begin, if the assessment accommodations are to be implemented for that year’s exams. Assessments received after this date will be implemented in September in the following academic year, unless there are extenuating circumstances. Accommodations for Final Evaluations and Final Exams Students will be provided with accommodations according to the following three conditions:
