Upper School Informal Student Leadership Informal leadership is one of the five interconnected domains of leadership at Havergal. Students are informal leaders when they act as bridge builders by supporting the school’s programming and initiatives and when they collaborate with others to develop initiatives. Informal leadership opportunities exist throughout the school in scheduled events and inspired, organic opportunities. Here are some examples of informal leadership opportunities: This is a student-led initiative that happens three or more times per year. It is run for students, by students and is all about students. It is organized to hold space for students to dialogue, share their ideas, experiences, insights and / or messages with the wider Havergal community. Forum for Change Initiative Ambassadors The Forum for Change is a place where ideas turn to action. There are opportunities for you to take on an informal leadership role to support initiatives that arise out of the Forum for Change, for example Exchange Ambassadors and community involvement and fundraising initiatives. Students in Grades 7 through 12 may volunteer to be House Ambassadors or House Buddies to new students entering Havergal’s Upper School. Throughout the spring and summer months, the Ambassadors are available to answer questions for the new girls who will be entering their Houses in the fall. As well as attending new girl events in the spring, the Ambassadors are available in several areas throughout the school during the first two weeks of classes to ensure our new students are well taken care of. Havergal Ambassadors The Havergal Ambassadors are an active volunteer group of Havergal students from Grade 9 through Grade 12 who take prospective students on tours of the school, greet special guests, speak about the Havergal experience and community and serve as ambassadors at school functions.
