students, Havergal’s Guidance Counsellors act as liaisons with teaching staff, Boarding staff,  Wellness staff, Chaplains and, where appropriate, external agencies. There are grade specific  initiatives that frame the Guidance program. Students are placed with their respective Guidance  Counsellor by House.  ● In Grades 7 and 8 the focus of the Guidance program is to develop in students executive  functioning and leadership skills.   ● In Grades 9 and 10, Guidance Counsellors focus on academic planning and transition.   ● In Grades 11 and 12, Guidance Counsellors focus on the university planning and application  process.   Learning Support Specialists  Learning Support Specialists collaborate with teachers to support the academic, social and  emotional learning needs of Junior School students. In addition, this team works one‑on‑one with  students who have identified learning needs and their teachers to establish and implement  teaching, learning and/or assessment accommodations required for student success.   School‑Based Social Worker  The full‑time school‑based Social Worker meets with students and families throughout the year.  When necessary, the Social Worker refers students to external healthcare providers as deemed  necessary. Counselling appointments are confidential and at no cost to students and their families.   Chaplains  Havergal’s roots are steeped in the Anglican tradition and the school is fortunate to have two  ordained Anglican priests working with the school to meet the pastoral and spiritual needs of the  Havergal community. While our school traditions have an Anglican focus, major religious festivals  of other faiths are celebrated and honoured at Prayers.   School Nurses  Staffed by Registered Nurses, the Wellness Centre supports the physical well‑being of Havergal  students. Wellness Centre staff work to educate students with respect to their health and wellness  needs, while treating medical concerns according to medical directives issued by the school’s  physician consult.
