Family Handbook 2018-19

Junior Dons (JDs)  Junior Dons are student leaders who serve in the Boarding School in their Grade 11 or 12 year.  There are two to three Junior Dons in each Boarding family. They serve as support to their Dons  and as big sisters to family members. In addition, they organize programs for both their own family  and for the Boarding School as a whole.

Learning Hub

The Learning Hub is a teaching and learning resource space where students in JK to Grade 6 can  access desktop and laptop computers. Additionally, the Learning Curated online resources and  databases are available for students.

Lisa Hardie Woodland Trail

This beautiful woodland trail was created in the ravine south of the Junior School by the Hardie  family in memory of their daughter, Lisa, Class of 1993. It is the centrepiece of the Burke Brook  Stewardship project.

Music Tower

Located at the front entrance of the Upper School building, the Music Tower was originally part of  the Boarding School but is now used solely for private instrumental and vocal lessons.

Old Girl/Old Boy

A student who attended Havergal for at least one year is referred to as an Old Girl/Old Boy. (The  last year that boys attended Havergal’s Senior Kindergarten was in 1996).

Pitches  The pitches are the school’s three playing fields: the Ratcliffe Field, which lies to the south of the  main building nearest Avenue Road and named in honour of former Havergal teacher Judy  Ratcliffe; the Lower Pitch, the playing field behind the Athletic Centre; and the Cohen Family Sports  Field, which is located at the north end of the property bordering Lawrence Avenue.
