Athle cs 

Athle cs Philosophy  We believe  that every  student has  the  capability  to engage  in Havergal’s athle cs program. Our  program has  the breadth  to meet  the needs of a diverse group of  students and  the depth  to  challenge  students at all  stages of development.  It also helps  students develop:  self‐confidence,  sportsmanship,  commitment, perseverance,  coopera on,  responsibility,  resilience,  self‐efficacy  and pride  in  represen ng  the  school.  Athle cs Program  Havergal’s athle cs offers a program  for  students  in Grades 1  to 12. There are  three dis nct  programs  including  Squads, Squad Teams and Havergal Teams. These programs provide a  con nuum of development  in our  youngest  to oldest athletes. While not all grade  levels will  par cipate on a  team, each  stage of  the program  is designed  to  support athle cs  school wide.  Squads  Squads are available  to  students  in Grades 1  to 3. This non‐compe ve athle cs program  is  focused on developing  the FUNdamentals of  sport.  Squad Teams  Squad Teams are available  to  students  in Grades 4  to 6. Girls  in  this program begin  training  according  to more  formalized methods with an emphasis on  sports  skills. Squad Teams  focus on  the  sports  in which  the  Junior School par cipates as a part of  the Conference of  Independent  Schools Athle c Associa on  (CISAA) while providing addi onal development and prepara on.  Havergal Teams  Havergal Teams are available  to  students  in Grades 5*  to 12. Our  teams  compete  in CISAA. Senior  School  teams may qualify  for  the Ontario Federa on of School Athle c Associa on  (OFSAA)  championships. Havergal College fields more  than 70  teams over  the  school  year.   *Grade 4  students have  the opportunity  to par cipate on both  the Cross Country and Track & Field  Teams.
