Local Partnerships  Middle School and Senior School  students have  the opportunity  to par cipate  in a wide  variety of  local partnerships across Toronto, each with a different  focus. All of our partnerships have our  students working with diverse groups of people  toward a  shared purpose.  In  the  Junior School,  students design  ini a ves with Student  Ins tute Team  (SIT), a  club  that meets  three  mes a week  with  the Forum  for Change and  Junior School  staff. Students pitch  their  ideas  for engaging  in  the  world and explore how  to act on  them.  Exchange Program  The Exchange Program at Havergal College offers  students an opportunity  to  take part  in  experien al  learning and personal development  through  living and  studying  in another  country  and,  in  return, hos ng a  visi ng exchange  student. The exchange experience enables  students  to  see  themselves as part of  the  interna onal  community and develop  into  confident,  capable,  compassionate  young women who  can  contribute  to  the global  community.  Academic Policy  for Students Going on Exchange  The  school highly  values exchange opportuni es; however,  students are  responsible and  accountable  for Havergal  course  content. Our goal  is  to provide  support  to  students  such  that  they  can benefit  from  the exchange without academic penal es. Exchange guidelines  are  specified  in materials made available  to parents and  students. To ensure  that  students  going on exchange  receive  the  support  they need,  students will  inform all  their  teachers of  the exchange and discuss academic  requirements  in advance of  their departure,  comple ng  the  the Planned Extended Absences: Academic Agreement Form  in each  class.  1. In all  subjects, departments will decide what essen al materials must be  covered and how  it will be  covered. Students will not be asked  to  complete all  tests missed or assignments  already underway when  they  return.   2. Students,  in  conjunc on with  their  teachers, will determine work  that will be missed and  what  should be  covered  independently before  leaving on exchange, what  they will  take  to  the exchange  school  (a  limited amount) and what  could be  covered upon  their  return. This  will be  recorded on  the Planned Extended Absences: Academic Agreement Form and  handed  in  to  the Forum  for Change Program Manager.  3. Students and  their parents will  sign  the Planned Extended Absences: Academic Agreement  Form. Students will provide  the Forum  for Change Program Manager with a  copy of  this  agreement before  leaving on exchange. While  they are away,  students may  communicate
