Acceptable Use of Technology Agreement  Parent and  student  compliance and/or  consent with  this agreement are mandatory.

Philosophy  Havergal  supports  the use of a  variety of electronic  informa on  resources  in  the  school’s  academic program. One  such  resource  is a  robust  computer network established  for educa onal  purposes  including  research,  contact with distant experts, other  students and many other exci ng  possibili es. Havergal has a dual approach  for providing  computers. For  learners  from  Junior  Kindergarten  to Grade 8 and  students  in  courses  requiring  specialized equipment and  so ware,  desktops,  laptops and  tablets are made available. A  ‘Bring Your Own Device’  (BYOD) approach  is  in  place  for  students  in GRades 7‐12. This approach  requires  students  to have access  to and use  their  own personally  selected and purchased  compu ng devices at  school.  In addi on, digital  cameras,  scanners and  video  recorders are also available  for educa onal use.   Havergal  is wireless  throughout  the  campus and  students  in Grades 7  to 12 are expected  to bring  personal  laptops  to  the  school  in accordance  to Havergal’s Bring Your Own Device  (BYOD) policy.  Students and one of  their parents/guardians are  required  to  read and agree  to  comply with  the  Agreement – Acceptable Use of Technology and abide by  the Havergal College Code of Conduct  in  order  to have network access at Havergal.  The  ‘Standard of Behaviour’ outlined  in  the Havergal College Code of Conduct  is  the  founda on  for much of what defines  ‘acceptable use’ of  technology; however,  this agreement extends  beyond behaviour  to  include a tudes and ac ons  intended  to  create a  safe and  secure  environment  that  includes  the use of  technology.   Ne que e  (InterNET + E que e = Ne que e)  The generally accepted  rules of  internet e que e  1    include but are not  limited  to  the  following:  1. Courtesy – Follow  the  same Standards of Behaviour described  in  the Havergal College  Code of Conduct. Never use abusive or hur ul  language.   2. Privacy – Keep  your personal  informa on  to  yourself,  like  your passwords,  full name,  Social  Insurance Number  (SIN) and address. Do not give out  the personal  informa on of  others unless  you first obtain permission.  3. Plagiarism – Never use  the words of others without proper acknowledgement of  the  source. See: Academic  Integrity and Honesty and  the Havergal College Code of Conduct.
