CLASS REPS: Ann Woodrooffe Ferguson and Susan Sheen In response to our annual plea for news, we heard from very few classmates this year. Perhaps everyone is saving up for next year – our 55th! We suspect – and hope – that everyone is busy travelling, volunteering, visiting and spending time with grandchildren, family and friends. Karen McNair Morgan bought a new horse – a Norwegian Fjord – in August. Virginia (Ginny) Evans reported: “no news but still alive” – that is good news! Janet Dunbar O’Meara sent a note encouraging anyone who comes to Ottawa to look her up. Jane Morley Cobden met up with Kate, who is both Ann Woodrooffe Ferguson ’s great-niece and Susan Shirriff ’s granddaughter. Kate runs The Tare Shop, a zero waste shop, in Halifax. Jill Thompson Andersons had a good trip to Tasmania, Australia, and New Zealand. Carolyn (Cass) Campbell Kernohan had a visit with her daughter Kristina Kernohan 1995 in Vancouver and spent Christmas with her daughter Martha Kernohan Peacock 1998 and Martha’s husband in Sydney, Australia. She went with them to New Zealand and had a “slightly crazy road trip” with spectacular scenery – a grand adventure! In November, Susan Sheen started fostering her eighth poodle puppy from the Lions Foundation Dog Guides in Oakville. She reports that Gobi is a “winner” – lovely personality, eager to learn, eats like a lab and is

gaining 10 pounds a month! Dorinda (Dinny) McLaren McCraney writes that she loves life in Bracebridge. She had lunch with Pamela Cooper Bowen at Nancy Newby’s cottage. They had stayed there (with Nancy and Donna Nixon Carruthers ) in the mid-1960s. She had Joyce Allan McAlpine to lunch and also a visit from Carolyn (Cass) Campbell Kernohan. Dinny often gets together with Jane Grand Clark and Joey Bell Brown 1964, who have cottages in the area. Dinny writes: “The fact that some people weren’t classmates makes no difference as we have that special HC bond and always seem to be able to pick up the conversation as though we were still at school!” Dinny keeps in touch with Donna Morris Clarke in Hamilton, New York, and Susan Armstrong Doolittle Angus in Edmonton. She reports that she has room for visitors and is always glad of company. 2020 is our 55th Reunion year! We did hear from many classmates that they are planning on coming to that reunion. The Havergal reunion weekend is usually the last weekend in September, which next year would be September 26 - 27, date yet to be confirmed by the school. We suggest that we have cocktails at the school and then dinner somewhere on the Saturday evening. But we need volunteers to do the planning. Please contact Ann Woodrooffe Ferguson to volunteer. No planners – no reunion!
