Cynthia Johnson Clarkson toughed it out in Toronto over the last very wintry winter. Linda FitzGerald Grasley cruised with family to Sweden, Norway, Iceland and the Faroe and Shetland Islands last summer. She spent a week in London with the

Mirvish Theatre Travel Group and planned a Panama Canal cruise for March. Marilyn Rea Patterson responded to the request for news by e-mailing from Florida where she and Nels spent several months. Marilyn participated in two intergenerational programs offered by “Roadscholar” with her 12-year-old twin grandsons – one trip to Boston and one to Chicago. Jane Cogan Upton sent a story of Havergal’s contribution during the Second World War. When schoolchildren were encouraged to support the war effort, Havergal girls adopted a minesweeper, The H.M.S Prompt, by raising $400 for British ships. The 600-student school accommodated 110 of the British children fostered in Toronto. This information turned up when Jane’s daughter was researching a novel.
