Evacuation Procedure In the case of fire, the person who discovers the fire should immediately pull the fire alarm. Evacuation procedures will commence upon hearing the alarm. 1. Exit Boarding immediately. ● All students exit through their main floor Boarding School door, unless it is unsafe to do so. ● The Boarding Staff on Duty on the third floor sweep the floor (knock on each door if possible, while shouting) within reasonable expectations for their own safety. 2. Exit the building and make way to the Upper School Parking Lot (North Lot). ● The Boarding Staff on Duty will collect the Fire List Binder (which contains Family Attendance Sheets, emergency numbers, extra masks), cell phone and iPad. Assemble in the Upper School Parking Lot (North Lot). ● Boarding students are asked to organize and stand quietly in families. ● The Boarding Staff will take student attendance. 4. If required, move to a secondary location. ● Assemble in the Junior School or South House, if required. ● The off-site location is St. Ansgar Lutheran Church (1498 Avenue Road): travel north on Avenue Road, cross at street lights, enter the front doors of the church. 5. Return to the building. ● The “All Clear” is announced by Security at the conclusion of the evacuation. ● All occupants will return into the building through the Main Entrance and proceed to their assigned entry into Boarding. The Head of Boarding works with Security to plan and execute regular scheduled evacuation drills. Lockdown Procedure 1. Move immediately to a secure location (stay out of hallways, washrooms and common areas) and lock doors. 2. Scan hallways for students and invite them into a secure location. 3. Stay contained in a safe and secure location (no sound and no movement). 4. All cell phones must be turned off immediately. 5. Everyone must remain quiet. 6. If the evacuation alarm bells ring, remain in full internal lockdown mode until the police signal the all-clear.
