A long-standing tradition of giving has meant that each generation of Havergal students has benefited from the generosity of our dedicated donor community. Your gift to our school reaffirms your belief in Havergal’s mission and our important role within the community, while inspiring others—especially your daughters—to pay it forward. In keeping with this tradition, each year we invite members of the Havergal community to donate to our Annual Fund. As this year looks different for all of us, as we hope this Guide to Giving helps with your understanding of how you can make an impact through philanthropy.

Fundraising at Havergal

The teachers at Havergal do their best to help their students reach their highest potential.

What is the Annual Fund? The Annual Fund is an important source of financial support for curriculum enrichment, financial assistance and many other initiatives that make our academic, athletics, arts and music programs unique.

What is the Limitless Campaign ? The Limitless Campaign is the College’s current capital campaign, which helped create spaces that inspire learning with a focus on art, STEM, music, health and wellbeing, and environmental sustainability. With more than 90% of our $21 million goal raised, the campaign is our most ambitious fundraising endeavour to date.

Endowments Havergal’s endowments benefit our students. Scholarships and bursaries, professional development, curriculum initiatives and new equipment are just a few areas of impact. Endowments are funds permanently set aside as ongoing funding sources. A percentage of the income generated by the endowment capital is spent annually, but the capital itself remains untouched, ensuring that monies continue to be generated with each succeeding year. Donors may contribute to enhance an existing fund or create a new one. A minimum of $100,000 is needed to create a new endowed fund.

Your gift to the Annual Fund has an impact on our students every single day. Please consider making a gift to one of these priority areas where we need your support the most.

Unrestricted Funds Reinforce areas that are of greatest need and are timely.

Bursary Support Champion students who otherwise would not have the chance to attend Havergal, or who are at risk of not being able to return to school.

Wellbeing Support the daily Wellbeing Program, a key priority of our healthy learning environment that promotes agency and resiliency.

Property Enhancements Invest in Havergal’s campus to ensure that the facilities serve our students in powerful and positive ways.

Limitless Campaign With more than 90% raised for the new spaces, your support will help us cross the finish line.

Directing Your Gift Where you direct your gift is up to you. This year, Havergal’s areas of greatest need are the unrestricted fund and the Limitless Campaign . While unrestricted gifts allow the greatest amount of flexibility, some donors may choose to direct their gift to an area that is more meaningful to them.

Making a donation is a personal decision for you and your family. We understand that, given the current economic climate, it may not be possible for you to make a gift. We are here to answer your questions. You will be updated throughout the year on how your donations impact our students and support our continued agile response during this pandemic. Please read Inside Havergal (the school’s monthly e-newsletter) to learn more about the power of gifts from our community.
