Torch - Fall 2014

Thank You from the Chairs

In this fall 2014 issue of the Torch/Annual Report , we consider the importance of our Old Girls community and the many ways in which our Old Girls continue to contribute to the culture and ethos of our school. Our Old Girls network has existed for many decades and plays a significant role in the choice many parents make to pursue an independent school education for their children. In addition to supporting each other beyond Havergal as well as supporting our current students through mentoring and networking programs, our Old Girls contribute generously to Havergal with their financial gifts. It seems fitting therefore, in this edition of the Annual Report , to extend our particular gratitude to our Old Girls for their long-standing commitment to the financial wellbeing of Havergal College. As the Chair of the Havergal College Board of Governors and Chair of The Havergal College Foundation for the 2013–14 school year, we would like to extend our thanks to the many generous donors—in addition to our Old Girls—who included Havergal College in their family’s charitable priorities. A number of families chose to commit to a major gift ($25,000+) and for this act of generosity we are exceptionally grateful. Participating in the school’s Annual Giving Program as well as supporting ongoing capital investment are critical to the school’s mission and strategic goals and to maintaining Havergal’s place at the pinnacle of girls’ education in Canada and beyond. As the school moves toward the completion of its next strategic plan, which will guide us for the next five years, we encourage the Havergal community to continue to give generously. Your contributions have a significant impact on the life of our students and of our school, and are greatly appreciated.
