BOARDING SCHOOL

An International Experience

At Havergal, our Boarding School includes 51 students in Grades 9 through 12 who represent 16 different countries. Boarders share many qualities in common, among them a genuine enthusiasm for acquiring an excellent education and an openness to experience new situations and adventures. “All of these young women are remarkable, and our Boarding Team has enjoyed getting to know each of them,” says Natalia Stewart, Assistant Head – Boarding School, who started at Havergal in September 2013 along with new Dons Erin Cochrane, Annie Maki and Farisa Mohammed. The new group joins Boarding Team members Claire Davis and Katherine Joyce. Each member of the Boarding Team brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills to her role. And throughout the year, many students will get to know them as they substitute teach in the Junior and Upper Schools, assist with excursions and participate in various co- and extra-curricular activities. The Boarding Team, along with Wellness staff, are dedicated to providing a warm, nurturing and supportive home-away-from-home. “Our goal is to have a larger connection between Day and Boarding students as well as instilling in their minds the famous question posed by Havergal’s First Principal Ellen Knox: what are you going to do? ” Natalia adds. “We will also encourage the Whole Girl spirit by providing experiences that

enrich our Boarders’ lives. I know the Boarders will fill our community with laughter and endless stories. To date, our team has already learned so much from our students and witnessed compassion, resilience, perseverance and humility.
