The Bluestocking 2022-23
Madison Meyers | Grade 12 A Day on the Ice Strong gusts of wind soared through the air as my hands ached while I pulled hard on the laces of my skate. my helmet squeezed my head tight, cushioning it for protection. Slowly, I put on my gloves, and my fingers began to de-thaw. I took my first step on the crystal-clear ice. I could hear a faint cracking noise as I leaped forward and my skates dug into the ice. Skating through the groups of people, I dodged those who had fallen, the air brisk on my cheeks. I felt a warm feeling soar through my body, even though the air felt as cold as ice. Scanning the ice, I could see smiling faces and red noses. the winter fair in my town was nothing short of spectacular. The air filled with fog from the warm breaths of people.
