Reflections of Havergal: 1994-2019

The School Mascot

An early (and even rather alarming) mascot for the school was showcased in the 1916 Ludemus , but little is known of its exploits. Almost 80 years later, however, a more approachable mascot arrived on the campus, just in time to celebrate the school’s 100th birthday, and as Grade 4 student Laura David explained in the Spring 2012 issue of Torch , the Havergator, unlike the Elephant, can claim an illustrious history. The Havergator does reinvent itself from time to time, but when it does, it always sports a genteel and comely look, as it did in 2014, just in time to enter the Post City Mascot Rivalry.
