Confessions of a New Boarder Through the Vine , 2005 By Caitlin Collis
On September 4th, 2005, I arrived at Havergal College, loaded with suitcases and shopping bags, ready to make the boarding school my new home. From the moment I walked through the HC main doors and into the rotunda, I was greeted warmly and welcomed by both the students and staff. As I stood there, soaking in my new environment, I felt excited, nervous, apprehensive and elated; after all, I was taking the next step in my life, a very long way from home. The boarding school is constantly alive with chatter and activity. I love the fact of having 53 ‘sisters’ to talk to and hang out with 24/7. However, there are still times when I feel so homesick it hurts, especially when I have called home, longing to hear a familiar voice. Yet, as each day passes, I feel more comfortable in my new surroundings, and I am starting to feel like a newfound puzzle piece finally finding its place in the amazing HC community.
