Torch

Havergal’s school magazine, Torch , published its first edition in 1981 as a newsletter to the community. Throughout the years, the publication has undergone many iterations and has evolved into a biannual magazine that highlights life at the school, including both curricular and co-curricular content, and captures the spirit of the Havergal community. You can read past issues of Torch here.

Sustainability at Havergal

“Tracing the Ivy” BTI , March 2014

In fall 2013, Acting Principal Lois Rowe wrote the following in Torch : Individuals who volunteer offer us a most valuable gift— their time. They sign up, show up, roll up their sleeves and participate, all for the reward of being of use. Not-for- profit organizations depend on volunteers to enhance their operations—raise funds and provide programming. Havergal is an organization that owes a debt of gratitude to its volunteers. For almost 125 years, Havergal’s parents and Old Girls have nurtured the Havergal tree with their vigorous generosity and loyalty.
