Working with a robust infrastructure, full-time technical support staff and dedicated technology integrators, faculty are also consistently developing new ways to engage learners in collaborative and student-centred approaches facilitated by technology.  Cloud-based collaborative resources like Google Docs are widely used in conjunction with online learning programs (e.g., “Tell Me More” language system, Blackboard “Learn”), wikis and secure content- management systems through which students can read course expectations and rubrics, receive and submit assignments, contribute to discussions and take self- assessment quizzes.   Many teachers are “flipping” their lessons with original instructional videos to extend their reach to students and enable more differentiated learning during class time. The latest interactive white-board technologies are being piloted in both the Junior and Upper Schools, along with the targeted use of touch-based tablets (e.g., iPads), document cameras and professional quality graphics tablets and digital cameras. Custom designed, technology-focused professional development is offered throughout the year and on a project-by-project basis, as needed.  Havergal currently welcomes students’ use of their own laptops and mobile devices and encourages the use of the ‘best tool for the task’ in creative ways. A hybrid BYOD [Bring Your Own Device] plus laboratory approach is set to expand in the coming years as cloud-based computing and online learning systems become increasingly prevalent and sophisticated. In particular, web-based assessment tools and self-paced, online adaptive learning environments promise to supplement classroom learning in important ways. 10. You can use the computers from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm 9. You can find information about everything in the library, including the 10 different schedules we have at Havergal. 8. It is an oasis of peace and tranquility amidst the daily grind. Well—sometimes! 7. If your mom or dad asks where you were when you get home late from school, you can ay, “at the library,” and you’ll be telling the truth! And they will be impressed. 6.
