GRADE 10 PPL2O – Healthy Active Living Education, Grade 10, Open Semestered 0.5 CREDIT It is no secret that physical activity is necessary to a person’s well-being. Canadian teens need 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day to reap the rewards. This course will help you to achieve it. The Grade 10 Health & Physical Education course is an extension of the Grade 9 course as it exposes students to a wide variety of group activities so they can play games that are fun and participate for the joy of being active. Team sports such as flag football, ultimate Frisbee and rugby will be played with a focus on teamwork and skill development. Other topics include rock climbing, personal fitness, racquet sports and aquatics. Health units allow students to connect their experiences in Grade 10 to making good choices about healthy eating, mental well- being and sexual health. The benefits to daily physical activity include improved overall fitness, a boost to mental health, the ability to cope with stress and improved academic performance in your other courses. PAF20 – Healthy Living and Personal Fitness Activities, Grade 10, Open 1 CREDIT Teens in Canada are less active today than they have ever been and the effects contribute to us feeling stressed, out of shape and tired. We know how amazing a life that includes physical activity can be. The effects are astounding and every teen should have the opportunity to take part in an activity that they feel good about. This focus course is designed to allow students to participate in a variety of fitness-based activities that promote lifelong healthy active living. Student learning includes skill development, participation in a variety of activities that enhance personal competence, fitness and health. Health units allow students to connect their experiences in Grade 10 to making good choices about healthy eating, mental well-being and sexual health. Fitness can be fun! Take this course to commit to a healthier you. PAI20 – Healthy Living and Individual and Small-Group Activities, Grade 10, Open 1 CREDIT We know how amazing a life that includes physical activity can be. The effects are astounding and every teen should have the opportunity to take part in an activity that they feel good about.This focus course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable individual and small group activities that promote lifelong healthy active living. Student learning includes racquet sport skill development and participation in a variety of activities that enhance

personal competence, fitness, and health. Health units allow students to connect their experiences in grade ten to making good choices about healthy eating, mental well- being, and sexual health. If you are someone who loves to play racquet sports, friendly competition and fun, this course is for you! NOTE - not offered 2017-2018 due to construction on campus. PAR20 – Healthy Living and Rhythm and Movement Activities, Grade 10, Open 1 CREDIT Dance is a fun social, cultural and physical way to get moving and take care of ourselves. We know how amazing a life that includes physical activity can be. The effects are astounding and every teen should have the opportunity to take part in an activity that they feel good about. This focus course is designed to allow students to participate in a variety of dance and rhythmic activities that promote lifelong healthy active living. Student learning includes skill development related to creative movement, dance and body management activities. Health units allow students to connect their experiences in Grade 10 to making good choices about healthy eating, mental well- being and sexual health. Come move with us!
