8. You will not submit, publish, transmit or willingly receive any defamatory, inaccurate, harassing, abusive, obscene, profane, sexually-oriented, threatening, offensive or illegal material. 9. You will respect device-free times and zones within the School as outlined in the student agendas and only use a device in class or in meetings when permitted and directed by the teacher for the purpose of learning. 10. Washrooms and change rooms are spaces where device usage is forbidden. 11. You will not install or modify any hardware or software (including music, videos and games) on any School owned technology without the permission of the School’s Information Technology Department. 12. You will not knowingly introduce a virus or other malware into the School network. 13. You will not tamper with, or ‘hack’ into, any School resource to gain inappropriate access. 14. You will not violate any patent, trademark, trade name, copyright or privacy laws. 15. You will not purposely damage any part of the School’s equipment or network. 16. You will not use the personal information of Faculty, Staff, or other members of the Havergal community for inappropriate purposes. 17. You will not use the School’s technology resources or network for commercial, ongoing personal business, and product advertising purposes. 18. You will immediately report any security problems you have identified or something online that makes you uncomfortable, like pornography or messages from strangers or bullies to a School staff member. As well, you will not share the security problem or uncomfortable material to others. 19. You understand that all communications and information accessed through and stored on the School’s network and cloud-based facilities are not considered private and may be accessed by a School administrator at any time. This document should be read in conjunction with the Havergal College Code of Conduct and the Havergal College Harassment Policy. For incidents involving illegal activity, the Police will be contacted. All parents and students of the Havergal community are responsible for following the letter and spirit of the Acceptable Use of Technology Agreement. Any breaches of this policy may be subject to disciplinary actions as outlined in the Havergal College Code of Conduct.
