CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

Each year, every Round Square (RS) school is asked to pledge to the Round Square Discovery Fund, which is used to fund a range of student-focused RS activities such as materials and tools for service projects as well as bursaries for students that would not otherwise be able to participate in service and conferences activities. These funds support RS service projects and provide bursaries to students in need. The funds raised by students for the Discovery Fund support the purchase of essential tools and help offset costs associated with Service Projects run by Round Square. This will make a lasting difference. Student Fundraising Havergal’s approach to community engagement and fundraising aligns with our mission; we approach fundraising as engaging with our Community Partners by considering People (rather than just causes or organizations), Place (where they are in the world and in relationship with the Havergal community), Perspective (requires research and outreach) and Partnership (rather than giving or helping). Our Community Partners are (list updated annually): Wednesday Programming Standing Community Partnerships Emerging Community Partners Grenoble Art City Resources for Youth in India Water First New Circles North York Harvest Food Bank Youth Without Shelter Round Square Wandering Spirits TDSB Common Earth Fundraising is about raising money, resources (including food and clothing drives) and awareness in support of Community Partners. We fundraise and raise awareness with integrity and ethical approaches. We are connected to our Community Partnerships in multiple ways and in those deep connections there is a mutual accountability that enables our community to learn in partnership. To support this approach:

1. Students may initiate fundraising events at Havergal College: a. that directly support Havergal’s Community Partnerships; or

b. in cases of urgent needs (ex: war, natural disaster, impact close to our community). 2. Proposals for fundraising in support of Community Partners beyond what is already scheduled must be brought to members of the Forum for Change for review. Appropriate proposals will then be brought to the Upper School Student Life Committee, which is led by the Vice Principal, Student Life & Wellbeing.
