CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES
Affinity/Alliance Heads Affinity and Alliance groups are led by student leaders who demonstrate a keen interest in creating spaces that promote inclusion and compassion. They work with the faculty/staff mentors and are responsible for programming for the Affinity/Alliance group. Club and Publication Heads These Senior School student leaders are elected or appointed to lead an organized club or publication at the school that aligns with an area of personal interest or passion. They are responsible for the programming, attendance and budget of their club or publication. Community Partnership Heads These Senior School student leaders are elected or appointed to lead one of the school’s community-based groups. They are responsible for supporting the programming of the school’s Community Partnerships to ensure students are accountable, responsible and knowledgeable as they work in partnership with our community partners. Student Grade Representatives Each grade elects three students as Grade Reps, who are committed to leading their fellow classmates. They will meet regularly with the Faculty Grade Lead and share ideas and perspectives from the class. Grade Reps will work with other student leaders to plan events for their class throughout the year. Boarding Grade Reps serve on the Boarding Council, led by the Boarding Prefect. Leadership opportunities exist throughout the school year in scheduled events and inspired, organic opportunities. Here are some examples of these leadership opportunities: Social Innovation Initiatives Opportunities for students to take on an informal leadership role to lead, engage with and support initiatives emerge throughout the year. Students are encouraged to connect with the Forum for Change for opportunities with our local Community Partnerships, such as Water First and the Truth and Reconciliation Student Group. There are also annual Community Partnership drives they can get involved in, such as Holiday Angels, Prom Dress Drive and more. Students can also connect with HC-X for opportunities with social innovation, such as Virtual Learning Lab, The Earth Prize and The Future Prize. Havergal Ambassadors The Havergal Ambassadors are an active volunteer group of Havergal students from Grades 11 and 12 who take prospective students on tours of the school, greet special guests, speak about the Havergal experience and community and serve as ambassadors at school functions.
