CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

Senior School Co-Curricular Arts Senior Choir

Senior Choir is an auditioned vocal ensemble for students in Grades 9 to 12. This group performs at Carol Service, and Founders’ Day, SS Music Nights and other opportunities throughout the year. Weekly compulsory rehearsals and additional morning sectionals are scheduled from September to May. Chamber Choir The audition-only Chamber Choir is an intimate vocal ensemble of highly-skilled singers. Chamber Choir members also participate in the Senior Choir. Rehearsal dates are determined at the start of the school year, with additional rehearsals scheduled before performance dates. The Chamber Choir performs in all school events throughout the year. Senior Orchestra The Senior Orchestra is for students in Grades 9 to 12 and performs at major all-school events, such as SS Fall and Spring Music Nights. Rehearsals take place weekly. Concert Winds Concert Winds is a senior band ensemble open to students in Grades 9 to 12 with prior experience. Rehearsals take place twice a week. Wind Ensemble Wind Ensemble is an advanced senior band ensemble that is open to students in Grades 9 to 12. Rehearsals take place twice a week. Please note: Students enrolled in Senior Band classes are expected to participate in one of these groups. While students who take Band classes are the core of these ensembles, all students interested are encouraged to join. Both Concert Winds and Wind Ensemble require an audition and appropriate placement will be at the discretion of the Band faculty. Students in the Senior Band and Strings programs will be able to rent instruments through the school if they do not already own one. Students in the Middle School programs will be lent an instrument and are not required to pay a fee. Dance Troupe The Dance Troupe is an ensemble of students in Grades 9 to 12. All dance styles are welcome. Rehearsals take place once a week from September to May, with performance opportunities on and off site in the second half of the year. Senior School Play Auditions take place in the first two weeks of the school year. Rehearsals take place after school from September through March, including an off-site weekend in October and weekend rehearsals before three culminating performances in March.
