HC-X: HAVERGAL’S INNOVATION HUB

Future-Ready Learning Experiences As HC-X continues to design strategic programming in Futures & Foresight and Entrepreneurship, we also curate opportunities for small groups of students to participate in future-ready learning experiences within the community. Many of these are annual events, such as the CIS Ontario Middle School Future Prize. Others are just-in-time opportunities such as a tour of the Immersive Studio at TMU Libraries, guest speakers on Artificial Intelligence, career panels on emerging industries, and local design sprints or hackathons. In 2025, HC-X launched a new global experience concept for a global experience called T.I.D.E.S – a Technology, Innovation, Design and Ethics trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. It has also stewarded a Space Camp trip to the NASA Space & Rocket Centre in Huntsville, Alabama.

Digital Micro-Credentials (Grades 9 to 12): ​ An HC-X Learning Experience Opportunity

What Are Digital Micro-Credentials? Digital Micro-credentials are future-ready learning experiences provided by HC-X, working in partnership with experts in nascent and emerging fields of work. These experiences are dynamic, flexible and verifiable through a digital credential granted upon successful completion. They are “micro” because they are discrete, contained learning experiences that take less than 20 hours to complete; they are “digital” because the learning is delivered with virtual components and the credential is granted through a digital wallet and is stored on the blockchain. These credentials are created by HC-X, but once completed, the credential is owned by the student beyond their time at Havergal College and can be shared through their digital networks (LinkedIn, etc.). Havergal believes digital micro-credentials allow our students to join leading secondary and post-secondary educational institutions that are providing students with verifiable, mobile, stable and valuable assets of identity that will distinguish and serve them now and into the future.
