CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

Art Co-Curriculars

Junior School Arts Co-Curriculars (Grade 1 to 6) We enrich the lives of each member of the HC community by reaching beyond classroom walls and incorporating the interests of our Grade 1 to 6 students. This support of lifelong learning, ability and interest is pursued through engagement with clubs and the arts. Students are encouraged to explore and investigate new interests and ideas that may develop into passions. Co-curriculars are run by Havergal faculty, staff and outside instructors. ● JS Musical—Cast Club, Grades 4 to 6: Calling all actors, dancers and singers to audition for the Junior School Musical. This club runs during the winter term and includes both acting and musical theater. ● JS Musical—Set and Costume Design, Grades 4 to 6: Calling all artists and designers! If you'd like to be a part of the behind-the-scenes crew for the JS musical, this club is for you! You will work with a team of student designers to make the musical’s sets and costumes. You will also be involved in making programs and posters and a documentary about the musical and helping out behind the scenes during performances. ● Havergal Learn to Play Strings—Grades 4 to 6: This music program is designed to teach students the basics of playing the violin. Students will learn about violin techniques and forms while learning to play simple tunes with their peers. This course will also help students gauge whether or not they would want to continue with Strings or Band in Middle School. ● Learn-to-Play Band—Grade 6: Students in this program will learn how to play a band instrument. Instruments will be rented through the school. Upper School Co-Curricular Arts (Grades 7 to 12) Co-curricular Arts programming at Havergal College provides opportunities to establish an understanding of music, drama, visual arts and dance. Dedicated practice allows for practical experience in the development of community and self. We support students in discovering and developing their ability in the Arts through curricular and co-curricular experiential opportunities. Your daughter is invited to participate in a variety of co-curricular Arts opportunities by registering online in the Arts Program of their choice during the first week of September. Unless otherwise stated, students commit to Arts programs for the duration of the school year. Their experience culminates in final evening performances.
