FORUM FOR CHANGE

centred on community partnership. Through local and international experiences, students will develop a belief in their own abilities and in their capabilities to learn, acquire new skills and adapt to new situations. The GEP includes: local partnerships, the Exchange Program and international partnerships, and global learning projects. Local Partnerships Middle School and Senior School students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of local partnerships across Toronto, each with a different focus. All of our partnerships have our students working with and/or learning from diverse groups of people toward a shared purpose. Community Partnerships Havergal College has many thriving partnerships, building on our long-standing relationships with community organizations in true partnership. Student leaders work in a reciprocal partnership to shape our participation in the following organizations: Art City St James Town: Art City encourages young people to put their imaginations to work. Using visual art as a vehicle to foster creativity, Havergal students design, facilitate and work with buddies and local professional artists on shared art projects. Grenoble Public School Homework Club (weekly) Flemingdon Park: Havergal students visit Grenoble Public School and assist their primary school buddies with homework. Resources for Youth in India (weekly) This partnership, started by two Old Girls/Alums, offers students the opportunity to connect and support youth in India through a love of learning. New Circles, Flemingdon Park (occasional) New Circles is an organization working in the Flemingdon and Thorncliffe Park areas. New Circles builds connections and caring communities through promoting equity and dignity by providing services and clothing to those in their community. Havergal students will have the opportunity to partner with New Circles on various community initiatives throughout the year. Our big New Circles initiative is Holiday Angels during November and December. Water First This partnership addresses water challenges in Indigenous communities in Canada through education, training and meaningful collaboration.
