HC-X: HAVERGAL’S INNOVATION HUB

What is HC-X?

Built with future-ready intention, HC-X is designed to support students and faculty through contemporary and innovative learning experiences. As a lead-learning organization, Havergal believes in providing the tools to adapt and thrive no matter what the future brings; we subscribe to exploration, experimentation and optimism when researching the taxonomy of multiple futures: near-term, possible, plausible, probable and preferred. This is the purpose of HC-X. We design and develop inspired opportunities for students to engage with social entrepreneurs, global community leaders and innovative programming and workshops to explore the here and now and to glimpse their possible futures of work and play. These opportunities support our students’ journeys toward Havergal’s Portrait of a Grad, with an emphasis on the following:

HC-X Designed and Delivered Courses Digital Wisdom (Grades 5 to 8)

To prepare students for an ever-changing world, Havergal has designed a program that develops the future-ready skills, mindsets and approaches to safely and effectively thrive in a digitally-mediated world. Digital Wisdom is a unique-to-Havergal, multi-year course, developed collaboratively by faculty across Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 and informed by research within and beyond the educational sectors, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), World Economic Forum and DQ Institute. There are six key outcomes of the course, structured as student-centred statements.

Through Digital Wisdom, students are: (1) Building the foundations of a digital citizen. (2) An emerging digital creative. (3) Practising responsible stewardship of their digital footprint. (4) Developing digital literacy.

(5) An emerging ethical digital collaborator. (6) Practising empathy and perspective-taking.
