Family Handbook 2018-19

On weekends and after hours, access is limited to the Main Entrance and monitored by Security  personnel. Should the door be locked, students and visitors must wait until the Security Officer  returns from his/her rounds. All other doors will be secured. With the exception of students and  visitors who are in the school to attend an organized function or special event, Upper School  students are permitted to access limited areas of the school in order to pick up or drop off  materials. All students are expected to sign in and out with Security.

On evenings and days when special events are scheduled, access will be extended to facilitate the  event and Security personnel will monitored visitors to the school.

Day students are welcome in the building outside of the school day to participate in school‑related  activities. It is important to note, however, that students who arrive before the school day or  activity begins or remain after the school day or activity ends are not directly supervised. During  these periods, students should remain in public areas such as the Rotunda or Temerty Commons.  We ask for parents’ support in making sure that students are picked up or depart from the building  in a timely fashion.  Security Swipe Card (Grades 7‑12)   All Upper School students are issued a multipurpose security swipe card with photo ID. Swipe cards  issued in previous years are still valid for the current year. All students are responsible for their  cards and must have their cards available at all times.   Students are to use their swipe card to:  ● gain access to the school at their secure grade‑designated entrance door;  ● borrow books and other materials from the Reta Weston Library Resource Centre; and  ● for all purchases in the Hawkins Dining Room and the Green & Gold Shop.   Purchases in both the Hawkins Dining Room and the Green & Gold Shop will be accumulated and  charged to your daughter’s account on a monthly basis. A limit of $20 a day has been set for  purchases in the Hawkins Dining Room. Parents may direct requests for adjustments to this limit to  the Food Service Director, with the student number included. This limit does not apply to purchases  made in the Green & Gold Shop. Any unused amounts from the previous academic year will be  applied to the student’s account for use in the following academic year.   Swipe Card Use
