Final Summa ve Evalua ons (Grades 7–12) Final evalua ons are scheduled during the last weeks of classes or during the Examina on Period that follows regularly scheduled classes. The metable for final examina ons is set by the end of April. The final evalua on provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their comprehensive understanding of the overall expecta ons for each course. Middle School Exams There are five examinable subjects for middle school students in math, science, social science, English and French. They are 1.5 hours in length and they are worth 20% of a student’s final grade. Senior School Exams Senior School students write a minimum of five exams. Grade 9 students will write: math, science, geography, English and French. Some Grade 9 students take Grade 10 language courses, which are also examinable. Exams in senior level courses may be two or three hours in length. They count for 30% of a student's year‐end grade. In some subjects, the summa ve evalua on is the final exam. In other subjects, the summa ve evalua on is comprised of the final exam and another cumula ve assessment. Your daughter will know how her year‐end grade will be determined in each subject. Examina on Conflicts (Grades 7–12) An exam conflict occurs when a student has:
1. two or more exams scheduled at the same me; 2. more than two exams scheduled on the same day; 3. four exams scheduled on two consecu ve weekdays; 4. two exams scheduled for the same day where one, or both, exams are three‐hours in length;
