What To Do When Repor ng Abuse/Neglect (a) Inform the Principal, Vice Principal or Head of School as soon as reasonably prac cable: ● A person who suspects or has received disclosure that a child is being abused or neglected should report the suspicion or disclosure to the appropriate children’s aid society, and as soon as reasonably prac cable to the Principal, Vice Principal or Head of School. ● In situa ons where the person with the duty to report is unable to discharge this duty, the Principal, Vice Principal or Head of School will make the report in the presence of the person, where possible, who has formed the suspicion or heard the disclosure. (b) If the Principal, Vice Principal or Head of School is not immediately available the person who suspects or has received disclosure that a child is being abused or neglected must report the suspicion or disclosure to a children’s aid society and as soon as possible therea er inform the Principal, Vice Principal or Head of School of the report. (c) Once a person has formed the suspicion or heard a disclosure, Principal, Vice Principal or Head of School shall not prevent a report to the children’s aid society being made, nor will there be a sanc on or reprisal as a result of such ac on taken. (d) While the duty to report lies with the person who has formed the suspicion or heard the disclosure, he/she may request the Principal’s, Vice Principal’s or Head of School’s presence while making the report to the children’s aid society. Inform the Children’s Aid Society (a) When repor ng to the appropriate children’s aid society a person who suspects or has received disclosure that a child is being abused or neglected must provide the required informa on; (b) If advised by the children’s aid society worker that the suspicion and/or disclosure(s) do not warrant an inves ga on, a person who suspects or has received disclosure that a child is being abused or neglected must ensure that he or she records the worker’s name, the date, and me of the consulta on. Principal’s, Vice Principal’s and Head of School’s Responsibili es (a) The duty to report lies with the person who has formed the suspicion. Where the reporter is not the Principal, Vice Principal or Head of School, the Principal, Vice Principal or Head of School shall ensure that the reporter is aware of and complies with subsec ons (b), (c), (d) and (e) below.
