CLASS OF 1978 BURSARY TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2020 $ 53,897

CLASS REPS: Tatiana Jaciw Kowryga and Eden Oliver Many wonderful re-connections were made at our Reunion last year. Kirsten (Kirsti) Walli has been busy travelling since her recent retirement from the OEB. Susan Reid, Jennifer (Jenny) Goad and Eden Oliver were pleased to sing together with other previous choir members at Old Girl Prayers and Miss De Freitas’s memorial service. We are grateful for our training at the hands of Mrs. Muir! Gillian (Gill) Hawker is busy with her work as Chief of Medicine at UHN. She lost her mother this winter. We send our condolences. Brenda Morrow Barry is busy travelling and enjoys golf and her grandchildren. Susan Smithyes Benson has a busy real estate practice with her husband Mark in Muskoka and the Kawarthas. Toni Addison Dixon continues to excel in barrel racing, continues her work with the Calgary Stampede Board and enjoys her granddaughter. Claire Bull uses her artistic talent to produce exquisite paintings and translates them into an online fashion business. Claire is grateful for her peaceful, calm life. Although pain management seems to be her job lately, she has lovely positive support and the company of a huge network of women. Working on art to give back is a key element for Claire, including knitting for veterans and hospices. Claire sends her best wishes to all! View her work at clairebullgallery.com or clairebull.com. As they prepared to submit this news, Theresa Sherwood Karakatsanis, Pamela (Pam) Marshall Clarke and Judith (Judy) McLean Goddard were enjoying the Florida sunshine together. Last summer, they had a

wonderful reunion at a cottage on Lake Joseph. The rental was arranged by the best real estate agent in the area: none other than our own classmate, Susan Smithyes Benson. Stephanie Hunt, Nancy Tregunno Berkhout, Margaret Sinyard Mayhew, Victoria (Vicki) Brophy Clarke, Theresa Sherwood Karakatsanis, Kathryn Hendrickson Guitard and Susan (Sue) Gillespie Nicholas all joined them. A good time was had by all! Brenda Morrow Barry also dropped in one night. After an eventful stay, they topped it off by joining their voices to sing in the ad hoc choir at a church in Windermere, all the while reminiscing that Mrs. Muir would have been proud. Kathryn (Kathy) Caldwell and her husband Rob purchased the family home on the St. Lawrence built by her grandfather as a wedding gift for her parents. They are enjoying their retirement, waking up to the wonderful views of the river while taking care of her mother’s 13-year-old yellow lab Brig. Kathy is dabbling in supply teaching. Her daughter Eleanor is finishing up an athletic therapy program and recently became engaged. Carol Welsman is in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign for a new Latin Jazz Album recording project. The release date is June 19, 2020. Julia Stanley Weaver has a new love in her life – curling! She started curling once a week a few years ago in a mixed social league with her husband, and now she is curling in three women’s leagues as well. From October through April, she can be found with broom in hand, slider on foot,

ready to fly across the ice. Warmest of regards to all!
