CLASS OF 1970 ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2020

CLASS REPS: Margaret (Margie) Ryrie Pacini and Jane Robinson Philippa Samworth is still working. She travelled to Portugal and, with her daughter, went cross-country horseback riding in Ireland. Laurie Vanderburgh travelled to Philadelphia with Philippa last year, and they are planning a trip to New Brunswick. When not visiting grandchildren in New Zealand and B.C., Muriel Smith Jarvis organizes other older women to walk, hike and stay fit. Sally Flatt Brown spent 11 days in Jamaica with her family and later travelled to various Caribbean islands. She volunteers in Port Hope for victims of violence. She often visits with Beth Hillary McEwen and Averill Ambrose . Beth travelled to B.C. and England, went canoe-camping in Algonquin Park and spent a month in Australia and New Zealand. She volunteers at the Geological Survey of Canada. Averill has travelled with Beth, volunteers at an animal shelter and sings with the Sweet Adelines. Shelagh Tippett-Fagyas travelled around Europe for six weeks and later took a cruise on the Douro River. Kate Palmer Wilkinson sings in the Dalhousie choir, works for the medical school and volunteers on the NDP’s Halifax Citadel/Sable Island riding committee. Carole Rubin knits and has provided toques and scarves for people who use the local food bank. Sybil Patterson Reburn went to an “amazing Camp Wapomeo reunion” with Ninkey Adamson Dalton-Eglee and Carolyn Pirrie St-Pierre . Carolyn and her husband bought a trailer in 2017 and have travelled all over. This summer, they were planning to go to P.E.I. She and Sybil are in touch with Susan (Sue) Rutherford de Duran via Facebook. Valerie (Val) McLeod McRae moved from Lakefield to Peterborough. They spent time biking and barging inGermany andhadplanned a trip toSouthAfrica for

the spring. She volunteers at the Canadian Canoe Museum as well as the Peterborough Regional Hospital Foundation. Leslie Jennings took a 20-day vacation in Spain and plans a trip to Ireland. Virginia (Ginnie) Welsman lives in California and has discovered that scuba diving is great for exploring the world underwater. Her travels have included Ireland, Scotland and the southwest national parks of the U.S. Deborah Scott has a yoga practice and is preparing for a teacher training program. She travels extensively with her husband. She volunteers with the Children’s Museum in Buffalo and a small organization that rescues draft horses. Jane Andrews Sloggett recently retired and is enjoying more time with her grandsons and catching up with “old” friends. After six years of searching, Jill Bennett has found the perfect spot to retire: on a lake in northern B.C., where they will build an environmentally-conscious round home. Patricia (Patti) Sheppard Ebright had planned an Alaskan cruise for July and to spend some time in Vancouver. Rosamund (Ros) Morley Storr continues performing and teaching. Travelling so much is getting tiresome, and they are considering retiring and moving. Margaret (Margie) Ryrie Pacini decided to step away from the National Ballet of Canada. Her son Jamie was married in October. The even bigger news is that her husband Peter is now two years cancer-free. Jane Robinson spent a week at her “go-to” hotel in St. Lucia last December. She volunteers on several neighbourhood committees with many of the major development projects in a two-block radius of her condominium. The most exciting project is the Port Lands Flood Protection project to the south of her neighbourhood. Margie and Jane and our great Reunion team look forward to seeing you all for our 50th! Due to COVID-19, Reunion Weekend has been shifted to May 29 and 30, 2021.
