CLASS OF 1969 ~ 50th Reunion

CLASS OF 1969 ENDOWMENT TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2020

The Class of 1969 celebrated its 50th Reunion last fall.

CLASS REPS: Sandra (Sandy) Riddell Marshall and Carolyn Wilkie Hill Our graduating class had a wonderful 50th Reunion in September. On Saturday evening, we celebrated at a cocktail party in Brenda Robson Hall with the other classes that were also having an official reunion year. We reconnected over drinks and delicious hors d’oeuvres. Some of us had come from as far away as Massachusetts ( Alex Thun Frazee ), Vancouver ( Margie Wright Knox ), La Malbaie, Quebec ( Elizabeth Maunsell 1968 ), and Florida/ Nassau ( Andrya Solomon Schulte ). Following the cocktails, many of us met for dinner at Kathy McCain ’s beautiful home (thank you so much, Kathy). Because it was a milestone anniversary, we were invited on Sunday for a luncheon in the Ellen Knox Library, hosted by Havergal principal Catherine Misson and joined by two favourite teachers, Miss Robson and Miss Ratcliffe

(Ratty). Havergal has a wonderful chef! There was also a tour of the boarders’ area and a memorial service for Miss De Freitas, who was one of our most beloved teachers. Sydney Hedderich documented the weekend by putting her pictures on flickr.com/gp/shedderich/6sva8c. There, you can get a good idea of what Havergal looks like now. Just look at us! Many of our class are retired or partially retired, so we are now invested in finding the best way to enjoy ourselves. Travelling and spending time with grandchildren seem to top our activities. Veronica Kerney Cowling travels extensively with her husband on behalf of the Queen’s Own Rifles and has an enormous family of children, grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Class of 1969 exotic travel destinations include Australia and New Zealand ( Wendy Evans ), the Middle East ( Joan Doran Innes ), Ireland (Joan Doran, Debbie Casey, Gillian
